      <description><![CDATA[Railton Road runs straight through the heart of Brixton, an ordinary South London street lined with shops, pubs, and front doors that opened onto the pavement. On the afternoon of Saturday 11 April 1981, two officers stopped a minicab there. Within hours, the road would be on fire. Within three days, 279 police officers would be injured, 56 police vehicles burned, 145 buildings damaged, and the British government would commission an inquiry that finally put words to what Brixton's Black community had been saying for years.]]></description>
