About Qualla

Every place on Earth has a story. The town you drove through without stopping. The island you spotted from a plane window. The mountain range on the horizon that you never learned the name of. Qualla exists because we believe those stories are worth hearing -- whether you're traveling the world or exploring from your couch.

Why We Built This

Qualla started as a passion project, born from a simple frustration: the world is full of fascinating places, but you have to already know about them to look them up. We wanted something that would just tell you the stories -- while you're flying over them, driving past them, or browsing a map on a rainy afternoon.

Although Bendyline is a business, we don't intend to run it like a "business." There's no revenue model, no growth strategy, no investor deck. It's a labor of love from people who think the world is interesting and want to share that with anyone who feels the same way.

How It Works

We start with Wikipedia -- one of humanity's greatest collaborative achievements -- and use AI to transform its articles into stories that are engaging to listen to. AI lets us do something that would otherwise be impossible: craft thousands of narrated stories spanning the entire globe that we can bring to you.

We don't just generate and forget. Every story is meant to go through human review and crafting -- though we have a long way to go. We fact-check against sources, refine the writing, and improve stories over time. AI gives us scale; care and attention can give us quality. The goal is for every story to feel like it was written by someone who genuinely finds the place fascinating -- because it was reviewed by someone who does.

No Ads. No Tracking. No BS.

Qualla is free -- though at some point we might ask for optional donations to help cover costs. There are no ads, no paywalls, no "sign up to continue reading." We don't track you, we don't collect your data, and we don't sell anything. Your preferences stay in your browser and never leave your device. That's it. That's the entire privacy policy.
