John O'Neill, grandson of Conn O'Neill, had brought an army from Oriel and Dundalk to crush the O'Donnells once and for all and claim the kingship of all Ulster. He thought he had the initiative. He was about to lose it, and his prize stallion the Son of the Eagle, in the worst surprise attack of his career.]]></description>
