The line has been there since opening day on March 31, 1973, when Charlotte businessman Earl Patterson Hall finally cut the ribbon on a 407-acre theme park he had been planning for four years and his investors had been waiting four years longer than that. Half a century later, the park remains the only major amusement attraction in America deliberately built on a state border - and the line itself has become one of the most photographed spots on the property.]]></description>
