      <description><![CDATA[Photo credit CC BY-SA 3.0. Walk into the cemetery at Christiansfeld and the first thing you notice is what is missing. No obelisks. No family plots ringed in iron. No angels, no carved grief, no competition. Every grave is marked by one small stone laid flat in the turf, the same size as every other stone, women's graves to the east and men's to the west, in the order people happened to die. The Moravian Brethren called this ground Gudsageren, God's Acre, and they meant the name literally: a field sown with the dead, waiting. Nothing is ever cleared to make room. Whatever a person had been in life, this is the plot they get.]]></description>
