The fountain on the square is called Muse, its jets choreographed to rise and fall with light and music, and on a summer night in Dnipro it draws crowds long before the curtain goes up inside. Beyond it stands the Dnipro Academic Opera and Ballet Theatre, a broad modern building whose story is one of loss and return: a company born, scattered across a continent by war, and reborn decades later on a scale grand enough to match the fountain that greets it.
