To arrive you first reach Ibiza, then step onto a ferry for the half-hour crossing south, watching the water shift from deep blue to a shallow turquoise so clear it looks fake. There are no high-rise buildings on the island, no runway, and camping is forbidden. What waits instead is a flat, sandy landform of pine woods, abandoned salt marshes, and cliffs that rise, here and there, straight out of the Mediterranean.
