They are not real, of course. They are Old Master portraits, painted between the sixteenth and nineteenth centuries, and someone had the strange and lovely idea to hang them where cool water used to be stored. This is the heart of the Fundación Yannick y Ben Jakober, a private cultural foundation on Mallorca that turns an old cistern into a gallery and an Egyptian architect's villa into a museum. Few places on the island feel less like a museum and more like a secret.]]></description>
