The Hand of Fatima, known locally as Gami Tondo and to climbers as the Needles of Gami, is a row of sheer sandstone towers near the town of Hombori, in the Mopti Region of Mali. The name honors the daughter of the Prophet Muhammad, whose hand is a protective symbol across the Islamic world, and standing beneath these pillars, the comparison feels inevitable.]]></description>
