      <description><![CDATA[There is a room, and off the room a small gallery. That is the whole museum. Inside it are roughly 150 objects, and between them they span the pre-Angkorian, Angkorian and post-Angkorian periods — which is to say the better part of thirteen hundred years of Khmer art, arranged in a space you could walk end to end in under a minute. The Kampong Thom Museum makes no attempt to compete with the national collection in Phnom Penh. It is doing something quieter and, in its way, more difficult: keeping the province's past in the province.]]></description>
      <content:encoded><![CDATA[<p>There is a room, and off the room a small gallery. That is the whole museum. Inside it are roughly 150 objects, and between them they span the pre-Angkorian, Angkorian and post-Angkorian periods — which is to say the better part of thirteen hundred years of Khmer art, arranged in a space you could walk end to end in under a minute. The Kampong Thom Museum makes no attempt to compete with the national collection in Phnom Penh. It is doing something quieter and, in its way, more difficult: keeping the province's past in the province.</p>
