The harled facing of Kelburn Castle was failing and would soon need replacement, an expensive prospect for the family that has lived in the place since the 12th century. So Lord Glasgow tried something other Scottish lairds had not. He invited four Brazilian graffiti artists to paint the walls. What they left behind, a riot of cartoon faces, lattice patterns, and serpentine colour climbing the medieval keep, became one of the most photographed buildings in Scotland, and a small diplomatic incident with Historic Scotland.]]></description>
