      <description><![CDATA[Some of the rivers here do not reach the sea by the obvious route. In the eastern part of Lomsdal–Visten, bands of dolomite lie among the granite, and water has spent a very long time dissolving passages through the soluble rock. Streams disappear into a hillside, run underground for a stretch, and surface again somewhere downhill. Caves come with the same chemistry, along with natural arches and weathering forms that look eaten rather than eroded. That geology was one of the stated reasons for protecting this ground when Norway created the park in 2009 — not just the scenery, but the plumbing underneath it.]]></description>
