      <description><![CDATA[On 12 September 1930, several thousand people set out from Hưng Nguyên toward Vinh, three kilometres away. They were farmers, most of them, walking to present demands about taxes and land. French aircraft met the column and dropped six bombs on it. Somewhere between 140 and 200 people were killed and hundreds more wounded, on a road, in the middle of a working day. Thirty-three years later to the day, a museum opened in Vinh to hold what was left of them and of the movement they belonged to — and it opened on the site of the prison where the survivors had been locked up.]]></description>
