The South Branch Potomac is narrow and unbroken, the cliffs are vertical, the woods on both sides have not been logged in living memory, and bald eagles nest along the cliff ledges. On almost every run through the gorge, passengers see eagles. The railroad's name is not promotional. It is just what passengers tend to encounter.]]></description>
