      <description><![CDATA[Rain landing on this lake will finish its journey in the Gulf of Bothnia. The Atlantic is barely a hundred kilometres west, downhill all the way; the Baltic is several hundred kilometres east through two countries. The water goes east anyway. Ranseren lies at 803 metres on the Norway–Sweden border, a thin blue seam between treeless fells, and the drainage divide it sits behind decides that everything leaving its eastern end will spend weeks crossing Swedish Lapland before reaching salt water on the wrong side of the peninsula.]]></description>
