      <description><![CDATA[Most old churches have been comprehensively renovated. The Victorians did the heavy work — ripping out box pews, removing galleries, replacing 18th-century joinery with neo-Gothic furniture, lowering pulpits, scraping plaster. By the end of the 19th century, hardly any small English or Welsh parish church looked the way it had a century earlier. St Andrew's Church at Bayvil escaped that fate. It is a scarce rural example of an unaltered Anglican church of its date — a phrase straight from the Cadw listing — and what you see inside is what a country congregation in 1830s Pembrokeshire would have seen, untouched.]]></description>
